Our commitments
Four rules we don't bend.
Every measure keeps its source, period, geography and limits. Model-generated interpretation is labeled.
Census tracts are the foundation; neighborhoods and local boundaries sit on top.
Data alone doesn't solve poverty or housing, and what occurs together is never presented as cause.
Suppression rules for small populations keep neighborhood detail from exposing anyone.
How we label what exists
Four labels, used everywhere.
You'll see these on every page. Nothing is shown as live until you can use it.

Questions people ask first
Straight answers.
If yours isn't here, ask the people who build and run the platform.
What is Civic Intelligence?
Shared, governed evidence about a place: what is happening, what has been decided and funded, what residents know, and whether conditions improve. One record instead of six portals that disagree.
What do these numbers mean?
Every measure comes with a plain-language sentence and a note on what it can't tell you. Area figures are estimates for a place, never measurements of a person.
Which places do you cover?
Every county and parish, 83,522 census tracts, 32,802 ZIP Code Areas and 30,304 cities in all 50 states and DC. The other lenses operate in East Baton Rouge and can be stood up elsewhere.
Where does the data come from?
The Census Bureau's American Community Survey, CDC PLACES, County Health Rankings and FEMA's National Risk Index, among 20 governed sources. Every value carries its publisher, release and limits.
How much does it cost?
Atlas Access runs from $7,500 to $45,000 a year by population covered. Studies, films and partnerships are quoted to scope.
Is a contribution tax-deductible?
Data Samurai is a for-profit company. Contributions are not tax-deductible unless a qualifying nonprofit partner is named in a project's terms.
